What do you like/hate about your room?

There are plenty of things I love about my room, but also a few things that I hate. My family just moved, so I’ve only been in my room for about two months. I’ve already personalized it and done my best to make it perfect for me, but there are still a few things I dislike that I can’t change. I’ll include as many pictures as I can. (Sorry for my terrible photography skills and my cat being in some of the pictures)

I absolutely love how comfortable and cozy my room feels. It feels like my room. I have a corner full of blankets and pillows that I love to cuddle up in while I read.

I have a corner dedicated to my cat, with her climbing tower and her food and water bowl.

I have Harry Potter decorations all over, along with some decorative crafts I have made.

I have a loft bed.

Underneath my bed is my desk, complete with two laptops and an extra screen connected to one of my laptops. I love to hide under my bed and play on my laptop.

I also have a bookshelf underneath my bed. It’s so full of books I have to stack books in weird angles to make them fit.

I have a string of lights tucked into the bottom of my bed, right above my desk.

I also have a shelving unit dedicated to my yarn collection.

I also love how big my closet is.

I love the knobs on my closet. They’re pretty, transparent blue flowers, and I absolutely love them.

Now, on to what I hate:

I hate how small my room is. As the youngest child in my family, I get stuck with the smallest room. My room can barely fit my twin sized loft bed. It’s so tiny and small. I also hate the color of my walls. I told my parents I wanted to paint my room before we put my bed together because of how hard it would be to paint with my bed there. I told them I wanted a cream color. Their response? It was “You’re room is already cream.” I told them it wasn’t. I told them it was gray. They argue with me, and I lose, because apparently parents are always right. Guess what?

My room was gray!

It was too late to change it. My bed was put up, and everything was in the way. There was no way to paint it now.

I also hate the lights in my room. They’re made in the most inconvenient way possible. My room has a total of three lights. One is a ceiling fan. Two of them are the type of lights that go inside the ceiling.

Here’s the problem: the light switch controls both the lights in the ceiling and the ceiling fan. I can’t have the fan on without the lights also being on. And to double the pain, the lights are directly above my bed. This all means that I can’t have my fan on at night unless I want to have lights glaring in my eyes. Plus, my room is too tiny for an air conditioning unit that connects to a window. In the summer, it becomes a huge problem. I get so hot at night, and I can’t turn my fan on to cool my room down.

The list of things I hate is shorter than what I love, thankfully. I truly love my room, but, like I said, there are some downsides.

Thanks for reading!

With love from Hogwarts,

Hermione Smith
